BFA Dance Program

The Dance Program provides professional technical training, fosters an intensive creative process, offers extensive performance experience and promotes rigorous intellectual inquiry through its two degree programs: the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA). The BA is a Liberal Arts degree in general dance studies. The BFA requires a more in-depth study in technique, composition, performance and dance academics. Both degrees can prepare the student for a performance/creative career, teaching, or further studies in such areas of dance as: history, criticism, ethnology, pedagogy, movement analysis, kinesiology, etc.

While the Program's emphasis is on modern dance, four years of ballet, jazz and modern technique are offered as well as three years for tap instruction. Additional required course work includes history, theory, kinesiology, composition, music, pedagogy, performance, production, world dance techniques, somatic studies, and cultural studies. Acceptance by audition only.
